FOCCUS Catholic Marriage Preparation

You understand that marriage is sacred.

Both of you want to do everything possible to ensure that your marriage blossoms into a sacramental union.

Such a union involves mind/body/spirit and an intertwining of your souls.

The right support and encouragement along the way help with the transformational process that results in the two of you becoming one.

As two become One, you want to share common hopes and dreams, learn to overcome significant obstacles and work together to weather the day-to-day struggles of life.

The FOCCUS program helps equip you for the sacred journey.

While not premarital counseling per se, FOCCUS is a prerequisite in many Catholic Diocese for couples preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony.

It’s our honor to accompany, support, and encourage you in preparing for your sacred journey together, using the FOCCUS marriage preparation process.

Here is how it works.

First, you and your fiancé separately complete an inventory comprising a series of questions that will help you target topics important to your unique relationship.

Don’t worry. There are no right/wrong answers to these questions, and you will not receive a grade. Once each of you has completed the inventory, we’ll meet together.

Through a series of positive, mindful conversations with your beloved, you’ll identify and celebrate your relationship strengths and dialogue about potential trouble-spots.

Along the way, you’ll receive support and encouragement in a more in-depth conversation and understanding of yourself, your mate, and the dynamics of your relationship.

The process varies in the time required.

Typically, we help couples make their way through this process in three to five sessions and then provide them with a certificate of completion.

Sometimes after completing the FOCCUS marriage preparation program, couples want to go deeper.

If that’s the case, we can talk, and, together, we’ll develop a premarital counseling plan.

REFOCUS provides marriage enrichment.

For Catholic couples who want to enrich their marriage and deepen and strengthen their relationship, we use a REFOCCUS Marriage Inventory that begins by working separately with each of you.

This inventory serves as a jumping-off point to help us target the areas unique to your relationship and are most important to your marriage.

Together, we’ll discuss what each of you most deeply desires in your marriage and develop a plan to get you there.
