One relationship after another – for years. Each ending in disaster.

It seems like they would get really into you, lost in you, but you backed away, feeling suffocated.

Other times, it seemed like they were just intentionally cruel or evasive.

After telling you that you were too clingy, the last one just ignored you until you finally figured out for yourself that the relationship was over.

Now, you’re with this really great man.

You really love each other. You’re talking marriage.

Everyone tells you how good you are together.

You can’t find the least fault with him.

So, why is your anxiety through the roof?

You’re trying so hard not to become too clingy or aloof.

You drive yourself crazy with thoughts that he’s losing interest in you, that he’s going to leave you for someone better.

You worry that it’s just going to end up a mess anyway, so you might as well get out before he hurts you, which he will.

Why can’t you keep yourself from sabotaging it?

He’s been so affectionate, loving, understanding.

He’s such a good guy.

Everyone tells you so.

You both want this.

Maybe, this time, it can be different.

It could be perfect between you. You really could share a genuinely satisfying, loving marriage.

But…

You don’t know why you do the destructive things you sometimes do.

Then, you try to hide it from him.

Of course, this makes it all worse.

Why is it so hard to talk to him about what you’re really feeling?

You’ve tried to bring all this up with him. It doesn’t go well.

Whenever you try, you don’t feel heard or understood; you feel crazy, or worse, the two of you end up arguing or pulling apart.

When he tries to get close or to get you to talk about what’s happening, you become irritable, angry, evasive, or shut down completely.

You try not to, but you can’t seem to stop yourself.

Why does it feel so hard to be inside your own skin?

It’s not even just in the relationship. You feel anxious all the time.

It’s to the point that the tension is affecting your body, your health. You feel the tightness in your neck, throat, and chest.

Sometimes it’s physically hard to breathe.

You wonder what’s the matter with you.

Everyone else seems to go about the business of living and relating just fine.

Whatever you do or say, it seems wrong. You feel out of place everywhere.

It feels like a slog to just get through the day. The smallest things are exhausting.

There is a constant sense that you’re not enough.

You’re on edge, on the verge of panic, much of the time.

There’s a sense of doom that you’re working hard to keep at bay.

You can’t even focus when you try to pray.

Somehow, you’re making a mess of it all, and you know it, but can’t help it.

Nobody understands that anxiety can be totally overwhelming.

Still…

You don’t want to lose him.

You don’t want to lose yourself.

You don’t want to lose the relationship.

You don’t want to fail again!

Instead…

You don’t want to lose him.

You want to feel at ease with yourself and in the world.

You just want to be able to go about your life without having to battle anxiety continually.

You really do need to, finally, get some help.

Reaching out is an important and brave first step. You’ll be so glad you did.

You see, none of us can rattle around inside ourselves and find our way alone.

Those internal disconnects, those fragmented and frightening parts of yourself, that feeling of shame and constant worry, that chronic anxiety and tension in your body – every part of you can be healed and brought into wholeness.

You have everything you need already within you. It would help if you had support, tools, and proper guidance.

You can do this.

You can move from being caught in the endless maze of being unconsciously run by patterns of
self-destructive shame, anxiety, and internal disconnection that leave you miserable inside yourself and
in your relationships, onto the liberating path of conscious awareness and joy.

It is possible to feel healthy self-love and experience satisfying, loving relationships.

You can be free to fully embody your True Self, with your unique purpose and gifts to enjoy and offer.
